Identify the basis
Check whether figures apply to 100 grams or a stated serving and record its weight. Bottle size is not serving size, and household spoonfuls can differ.
Measure once
Zero a dish on a kitchen scale before adding sauce. Weigh your usual amount and compare it with the label. This measures a portion rather than prescribing one for everyone.
A fictional example
If 15 grams contains 3 grams of carbohydrate, 30 grams contains 3 × 30 ÷ 15 = 6 grams. For a per-100-gram table, multiply its figure by the added weight and divide by 100. These are teaching numbers, not store product values.
Compare ingredients too
Review sweeteners and allergens alongside flavour. Diet or zero wording does not make quantity irrelevant.
Consider the whole meal
Include accompanying food according to the relevant eating plan. Avoid counting the sauce twice if it is already part of a calculated recipe. Follow storage instructions after opening.
Keep the formula and use the current label whenever the flavour or manufacturer changes. Healthy Side is more than dieting.
